Movement of Asian Australian Academics (MAAA)

The Movement of Asian Australian Academics (MAAA) was established in January 2016. Its primary purpose is to advocate on common issues for Asian Australian Academics, as well as providing research support and credibility for the Asian Australian Alliance (AAA) for all its projects and branches. It also aims to bridge the gap between social activism and academia.

The projects which MAAA will be advocating on for the 2016 – 2017 period include:

  • Where are Asian Australian academics employed in the tertiary education sector and whether there are a number of them in decision making roles;
  • Advocating for Asian Australian Heritage Week/Month;
  • Advocating for Asian Australian Studies as a course offered at universities across Australia;
  • Creating a think tank which assists in Asian Australian social activism;

If you are living in New South Wales and interested in being involved and would like to find out more, please fill in the form on the “Contact Us” page or email the Asian Australian Alliance (AAA) on
